Como bien lo explicábamos la semana pasada, la llave maestra con la cual se firma y encripta cada “aplicación” para PlayStation 3 había sido calculada y descubierta. Sin embargo, sólo hace poco GeoHot decidió adelantarse y revelar el número mágico que hace posible todo, que es el siguiente:

Estos números mágicos son aquellos pertenecientes al METLDR, algo así como la “Llave Maestra” de la consola. Con esta llave, que básicamente permiten que cualquier software que corra en la consola, legítimo como también ilegítimo, ahora se puede descifrar todo el software de la consola. Al mismo tiempo, fail0verflow ha hecho disponibles las herramientas para que los entendidos en el team empiecen a crear y probar software para la PlayStation 3. Ahora la Internet se está inundando de programas raros que nadie entiende para qué son, así que paciencia para aquellos que quieren sacarle el jugo a su consola.

Como dato, en el mismo sitio de GeoHot donde hizo esto público, menciona que no aprueba la piratería. De pasada, espera que sea contactado por Microsoft, Sony o Nintendo, para mejorar sus sistemas de “seguridad”.

Por ahora, atentos, las herramientas definitivas para la PlayStation 3 están en construcción, especialmente el Jailbreak sin necesidad de un dongle USB pagado.

iPad iOS 4.2 beta 3 has been successfully jailbroken by using Sn0wbreeze. There are 2 images posted by ih8sn0w showing the jailbroken iPad running iOS 4.2 beta 3 and running MobileTerminal app on it. With the release of iOS 4.2 is just around the corner, hackers are getting ready with the jailbreak for the new update.

Those who don’t know, Sn0wbreeze is a jailbreaking tool created by ih8sn0w (talented hacker) which creates custom .ipsw files on windows. This is similar to another tool, Pwnage which on the other hand creates custom .ipsw files on Mac. The sn0wbreeze jailbreak for iOS 4.1 is not yet released by ih8sn0w but with the releasing of iOS 4.2 jailbreak it should be compatible with the earlier version of iOS as well.

Don’t get too excited because Apple might be patching the iOS 4.2 up right before it’s released, rendered this current jailbreak, pretty useless (well, not really but it can transform the jailbreak to tethered jailbreak).
